Travel agents blamed the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in the mess in getting passport appointment slots. Marlene Dado Jante, president of the Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA), issued this statement in response to the removal of their slots for passport appointment. The current difficulty in getting passport appointment slots could have been avoided had the Department of Foreign Affairs maintained the current 1,000 daily slots for travel agencies, the PTAA said. Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA) dismissed the idea that clients are being required to purchase tickets from them on top of passport services. Jante stressed that travel agencies see it as their duty to assist in passport processing without forcing clients to avail of any additional travel tickets or packages from their respective members.
